Analysis Of BJP's Promise from 2019

A comprehensive analysis of ' BJP's Claims' and whether they were fulfilled or not. To identify their claims referral is from their official 'Sankalp Patrika' released in 2019.


THIS IS A SERIES WHERE MULTIPLE SECTORS WOULD BE DISCUSSED

1. SECURITY 

Promise 1 - Zero Tolerance to Terrorism 

Between 2004 and 2013 , there were 9321 terror attacks where 47% of terrorists escaped. But from 2014 to 2023 there were just 2132 attacks which are 77% less also only 20-30% terrorists escaped.


Conclusion - FULFILLED ✅




Promise 2 - Article 370 Abrogation 

In Aug 2019 , Article 370 was abrogated and in 2023 the Supreme Court validated it as ' completely lawful'. It was a landmark moment for BJP.


Conclusion - FULFILLED ✅


Promise 3 - Internal Security

As per NCB, in 2021 there were 4.21 Lakh crimes against women i.e a 43% increase from 2012. Even BJP ruled states saw an increase in crime rate.


Conclusion - NOT FULFILLED ❌




Promise 4 - Modernization of Police Forces

As of 2021, many police stations lacked basic amenities like vehicles, telephones and communications.
Interesting fact is that Rs. 18,636 crores was earmarked for this.


Conclusion - NOT FULFILLED ❌



Promise 5 - Self-Reliance in Defence sector

Since 2016-17, our defence exports have risen by 10 times, reaching 16,000 crores. Additionally , today we export defence goods to more than 85 countries.


Conclusion - FULFILLED ✅





Overall in security , BJP has fulfilled most of their promises. They have combated external security but have failed in stabilizing and improving the internal security of the country(See Manipur and Bengal)

MOVING TO THE NEXT SECTOR  5. HEALTH Promise 1 - Establishment of 1.5 Lakh health and wellness Centers under Ayushman Bharat  Till date about 1.7 Lakh centers are operational across the nation providing free essential medications and diagnostic services. Conclusion - FULFILLED ✅ Promise 2 - Poshan Abhiyaan Objective was to reduce malnutrition, anaemia, low birth weight and stunting. Anganwadi centers has been established but out of 14 Lakh centers currently 11 Lakh have functional toilets and 12.2 Lakh have drinking water. With the help of Poshan Abhiyaan, stunting has decreased from 38.4 % to 35.5% , wasting has decreased from 21.0% to 19.3% and underweight prevalence has decreased from 35.8% to 32.1% Conclusion - ON TRACK ✅ Promise 3 - Elimination Of Tuberculosis (TB) In India TB incidence reduced by 16% in 2022 compared to 2015, but it is still far from WHO target.
