3. INFRASTRUCTURE


Promise 1 - Constructing 60,000 Kms of Highways

In last 9 times , 50,000 Kms of highways have been constructed. The pace of construction has more than doubled to 28 Km per day.


Conclusion - FULFILLED ✅


Promise 2 - Electric Railway Tracks

As of March 2023, about 90% of our broad gauge network of Indian Railways has been electrified. Also about 50% is done in last 5 years itself.


Conclusion - FULFILLED ✅




Promise 3 - Eastern And Western Dedicated Freight Corridors

Today the eastern corridor is fully operational and about 70% of western corridor is ready. 


Conclusion - Almost Done ✅



Promise 4 - Doubling Ports Capacity 

This milestone is already being achieved by the government. The major port cargo handling capacity has been doubled from 8710 to 16,100 Lakh tonnes per annum.


Conclusion - FULFILLED ✅


Promise 5 - 175 GW of Renewable Energy Capacity 

As of December 2022 , India have achieved 69% of its target for 175 GW of Renewable Energy.


Conclusion - On Track ✅



Promise 6 - Piped water for every Household 

As of December 2023 , 72% of Households are now equipped with piped water.


Conclusion - On Track ✅


Promise 7 - Operational Airports to 150 

Currently there are 131 operational airports in India which includes 29 international, 92 domestic and 10 custom airports.


Conclusion - On Track ✅


Promise 8 - Gram Panchayat with high speed optical fiber

Initial target was for about 6 Lakh villages in contrast work has been completed for 2 Lakh villages where 669,012 FTH connections are provided.


Conclusion - PARTIALLY FULFILLED 



Promise 9 - Completion of Phase-1 of Bharatmala Project 

As of November 2023, only 42% of project has been completed which was to be done in 2022. The deadline has been extended to FY28.



Conclusion - NOT FULFILLED ❌




Overall in Infrastructure BJP has done a phenomenal job of building infrastructure in the country, be it road or railway.
Also many work are on the verge of completion which would be completed by 2024.

A comprehensive analysis of ' BJP's Claims' and whether they were fulfilled or not. To identify their claims referral is from their official 'Sankalp Patrika' released in 2019 . THIS IS A SERIES WHERE MULTIPLE SECTORS WOULD BE DISCUSSED 1. SECURITY  Promise 1 - Zero Tolerance to Terrorism  Between 2004 and 2013 , there were 9321 terror attacks where 47% of terrorists escaped. But from 2014 to 2023 there were just 2132 attacks which are 77% less also only 20-30% terrorists escaped. Conclusion - FULFILLED ✅ Promise 2 - Article 370 Abrogation  In Aug 2019 , Article 370 was abrogated and in 2023 the Supreme Court validated it as ' completely lawful'. HEALTH Promise 1 - Establishment of 1.5 Lakh health and wellness Centers under Ayushman Bharat  Till date about 1.7 Lakh centers are operational across the nation providing free essential medications and diagnostic services. Conclusion - FULFILLED ✅ Promise 2 - Poshan Abhiyaan Objective was to reduce malnutrition, anaemia, low birth weight and stunting. Anganwadi centers has been established but out of 14 Lakh centers currently 11 Lakh have functional toilets and 12.2 Lakh have drinking water. With the help of Poshan Abhiyaan, stunting has decreased from 38.4 % to 35.5% , wasting has decreased from 21.0% to 19.3% and underweight prevalence has decreased from 35.8% to 32.1% Conclusion - ON TRACK ✅ Promise 3 - Elimination Of Tuberculosis (TB) In India TB incidence reduced by 16% in 2022 compared to 2015, but it is still far from WHO target.
